Coast Guard Sector Houston-Galveston officials received a call from the Matagorda County Sheriff’s Office around 3 a.m. CDT about a vessel in distress near Freeport, according to a news release.
The Coast Guard said the men ended up on the offshore platform of an oil platform after their vessel began taking on water.
A 45-foot vessel was dispatched to the scene, along with an HC-144 Ocean Sentry crew.
The crew in the air was able to spot the people and relayed their location to the ship. The men were rescued and taken to Surfside Marina in Freeport, the Coast Guard said in a news release.
The three men are reported to be in stable condition, the release said.
